Social Awareness
• To promote and educate the public to a better understanding of the effects of childhood sexual abuse and thus create an environment in which any member of society is able to ask for help.
• To campaign and promote public awareness of the destructive effects of childhood sexual abuse which is carried into adult life, and to help facilitate a reduction in the incidence of sexual abuse.
• Bringing sexual abuse issues to a wider audience promoting a better understanding.
• To promote the work of AXIS and its values and principles to new audiences.
• To create a service which is available to provide early intervention thus reducing the incidence of clients needing specialist psychiatric in-patient hospitalisation.
• Reducing the dependence of victims of abuse and enabling them to become contributors to society rather than users of statutory agencies and services .
• Reducing crime and anti-social behaviour e.g. violent or destructive acts. (Evidence of criminals having a history of past sexual abuse)
• Reducing the prevalence of drug and alcohol abuse. (Evidence many users have backgrounds of sexual abuse).
